FOGG Odyssey bio picture

Troy Floyd

I missed the 60's, American, hate cooked green vegetables but love the taste of a cheese and mustard sandwich, been to 20+ countries, once had a 6-figure salary but quit it to be happy.

Goals in life:

* Sail the Amazon River in my own man made boat from Ecuador to Peru

* Hike Norway on the pilgrimage trail from Oslo to the North for 1 month

* Travel the world by car or motorcycle for 2 years

* Expand my photography skills

* ...and buy a winning lottery ticket!

Think that sums me up pretty much!  In all honestly, I'm currently living in Quito, Ecuador.  After working long 12hr days, 7 days a week, chasing the wealth dream I finally decided it was time in my life to do something I'm passionate about, PHOTOGRAPHY and TRAVEL!

I will be adding daily posts and pictures to this site, as this site is merely to display my work and keep people informed of where I'm at and doing.  Sign up for my email feeds to get my posts delivered to your inbox.  It's the best way to keep informed!

Looking for Daffy at Khao San Road

Since living in Bangkok I haven’t been back to Khao San Road since my last trip here 2 years ago.  No real reason why, other then it’s far away from the Sky Train and comprises of mostly young backpackers getting piss drunk.  I

n the last week though I have been there 2x, as I’m trying to fit in all those last minute places before I leave out.  I wanted to get some character shots of drunks, backpackers and crazies while there, plus it’s cheap shopping.  The Thais know backpackers aren’t going to pay tourists prices so you can get shirts, beers and trinkets for next to nothing here.  Heck you can even get a fake ID or college diploma for a few bucks.  Always wanted to be a doctor but the thought of spending 8 years in college didn’t fancy me much…but for $5 I would be down for that!  Dr. T-roy has a nice ring to it I think…

I drank more then I should have that night but not nearly as much as the Canadians did.  Guess it was Canadian Day as they were ripe for the occasion, drunk and singing there national anthem all up and down the street.  Was fun and learned something new because as an American we celebrate our day on 04Jul, which is close to theirs.  Wonder how that happened?

Below are some random shots of people and sellers:

  • I seen Jesus from Switzerland (sorry Ivan but that’s what I thought when I first seen you)
  • A couple who was in Thailand to get married and are not from Sweden in any way (UK actually but they will forever be Sweds to me).  Congrats Charlie and Nikkie!
  • A bunch of drunk Canadians (Americans should celebrate Canadian Day as well because they give us cheap meds…if your willing to make the border run)
  • The random “Hey I’m drunk and can I get a picture with a local” (these are classic Facebook shots)
  • Thais selling cheap beer with direct and to the point advertising
  • …and a lot of touts from Bhutan (who would have thought)

If your ever in Bangkok, Khao San Road is a must place to see, as anyone traveling in Asia will at some point pretty much end up here.

Forget Obligation Go Global…it’s my odyssey!
