FOGG Odyssey bio picture

Troy Floyd

I missed the 60's, American, hate cooked green vegetables but love the taste of a cheese and mustard sandwich, been to 20+ countries, once had a 6-figure salary but quit it to be happy.

Goals in life:

* Sail the Amazon River in my own man made boat from Ecuador to Peru

* Hike Norway on the pilgrimage trail from Oslo to the North for 1 month

* Travel the world by car or motorcycle for 2 years

* Expand my photography skills

* ...and buy a winning lottery ticket!

Think that sums me up pretty much!  In all honestly, I'm currently living in Quito, Ecuador.  After working long 12hr days, 7 days a week, chasing the wealth dream I finally decided it was time in my life to do something I'm passionate about, PHOTOGRAPHY and TRAVEL!

I will be adding daily posts and pictures to this site, as this site is merely to display my work and keep people informed of where I'm at and doing.  Sign up for my email feeds to get my posts delivered to your inbox.  It's the best way to keep informed!

Hello world! My 1st Post!!!

Welcome to my first post at my new site www.foggodyssey.com.  It’s bee long over due I know and have been meaning to get this site up and running for some time now.  All that said here it is!  It will be a work in progress forever I know but especially for the first 4 months.  I know nothing of Word Press or HTML coding but found a good site, Prophoto, that is helping me along in this new area for me.

Some of you might be wondering why I called my site “FOGGodyssey.com”  It stands for: Forget Obligation Go Global Odyssey.  I tried several names but it seemed that all were taken but for $xxx I could have bought them.  I figured what for and had to come up with something not taken yet.  My goal for naming my site was keep it KISS (keep it simple stupid).  Would have loved to have been able to get www.fogg.com but some major company already had it and they aren’t letting go of it anytime soon.  What I didn’t want is troyfloydphotography.com.  Couldn’t think of anything more boring, plus wanted something that sounded more commercial then personal.  I racked my mind trying to think of things like “Fuji” “Nike” “Flickr” exc exc that are now world known, simple words that can be expressed in any language.  In the end my mind was to fried to think of anything else that still had some what of a unique word for it and represented something.

My plan will be at first to post something every-other-day.  Just a note, maybe a picture or both.  If you want to keep track of what I’m seeing, doing or pictures I have taken, then you can either sign up for my RSS feed or even better my email feedburner.  Feedburner will send you a little email and show you what I posted.  There is no SPAM involved and you can quit this service anytime.  In fact I don’t even get to see who signed up for my feedburns, only numbers exc exc.  I track about 10 travel/photography blogs using this service and find it great, especially for the people who post something everyday.  Back when I used to be trapped in an office I relished those emails coming in that had nothing to do with work or stress and lived vicariously through those peoples travels.  So I hope I can do the same now for others.

Comments will always be welcomed (as long as they promote be as a walking God).  Input is appreciated but I’m vain and picky about some things, plus as of now I’m not begging for any money so that leaves me the right to be so.  Think thats fair enough, right?  I have somewhat of a set plan for this blog but for the time being it will be trial and error for a while.  Hopefully after a few months it will have it’s own style and charm to it, being worthy of being promoted on other sites.

As of now, I’m living in Bangkok, Thailand till mid-summer time.  While here I have been doing my best to not be productive to society in any way and think I have earned this break so far.  My time is spent doing walks while photographing Bangkok and the sounding area.  If your ever in the area hit me up and would love to meet ya.  Seeing how I have no real job I’m always down for meeting new people who think like minded.

Forget Obligation GGlobal…it’s my odyssey
